WRITING Unit 8

This time last year, things weren’t going too well for me. I went to live in Australia last year so I didn’t have friends there, I didn’t know anyone. I’m a bit why so it was very difficult for me to make new friends.

Everything changed for me the day that some of y classmates invited me to go with them to the city center after class, I went with them and I had a very good time there. From this day I started being very well with my new class and I really got on well with them.

From this day I felt much happier. Having friends there made me feel more sociable and happy. I’m still in contact with some of the friends that I made there in Australia an I’m meting the again these holidays.

Writing

About one week ago something happened which was a real test of my honesty. I was with one of my friends running around the lake when my friend suddenly stopped because he saw something strange in the floor. He took this paper and we saw it was an envelope with €1.000 inside.

We couldn’t believe that! It was incredible. We went to my frineds house, we didn’t know what to do, it was a lot of money! Of course we knew what was correct: we should take the money to the police.

For one moment we thought to take part of the money and give the rest to the police, but finally we decided to be honest. We went to the police station and we gave the money to them.

WRITING: MY TRIP TO ITALY

Hi I’m Marçal Alsina and now I’m going to explain you how was my last trip to Italy.

It was two weeks ago when we went to Italy as the final course trip. I went with the most of my class made and two teachers: Jordi and Anna.

We left Banyoles on Monday at 5:30 am, and we went to Barcelona to take a plane to Mila. When we arrived in Mila we went directly to Verona by bus. There we stayed two days: on the first day we visited the city center and the Arena, and on Thursday we took a train to Venezia. There we saw the most important places of this curious city like Sant Marco square or the Rialto Bridge. I think Venezia is a very beautiful city.

On Wednesday we arrived at Firenze, where we stayed two more days, Firenze is what I liked the most.

We passed the last day in Pisa. We saw the Pisa tower and the Duomo.

So all in all, It was one of my best trips ever. I think one week its a very short time… but we all had a very good time together and now our friendship is bigger than ever, so it’s a very good experience and very useful.

ARE MOBILE PHONES GOOD?

Mobile phones are one of the greatest invention of our times, and the majority of people use it. As you know, the phone is used to communicate with other people.

I tink that a phone can be very useful if it's well used, for exeple you can talk with people in another part of the world. But nowadays I think that mobile phones are used for moch more things than talking. Now it's used for entertainment before than communication, and I think it shoulkn't happened.

In conclusion I think that wue really need mobile phones but we should use it properly.

Who are you?

My name is Marçal Alsina and I’m a student in Banyoles in Girona. I’m into sports and music: I play water polo and I play the bass, I also like football, I’m a Barcelona fan. The people who I spend time with are very nice and they have quite the same hobbies as me.

 I don’t think that the world is a bad place, although we could improve it if we were more generous. There aren’t many things that make me angry, but what really annoys me is rude and pimp people.

As far as the future is concerned, it worries me the economic situation of the world, and I hope that we’ll be able to find a solution. I’m a bit frightening because  I don’t know what I want to I want to do in the future, and I don’t know what I’ll be doing in a few years’ time.

Are you for or agains using animals for medical research?

At the moment, it is legal to use animals for medical research, although ther're arguments both for and against this practice.

One of the arguments for using animals for medical research is that if we wouldn't try the new treatments with animals, some people would have the rsik of trying int without being save.

On the onther hand, there is a moral problem because a lot of animals like mouse die for medical research and there's some poeple who think that animals wouldn't have to live this life.

All in all, I am in favour of using animals for medical research, because other ways some people would die instead of these animals but I also think that this medical research would have to be more controlled because there're a lot of animals dying every day.

ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF HOME SCHOLING OR AGAINST IT?

In our area ti's not common; I don't know anyone who has home schooling.

In my opinion it's better to learn in an ordinary school. First of all because you're with another people and you can learn the other people and you should how to work with other people because in real life you will need to do that. Sencondly because you will have more friends if you fo to school, and finally because I think that it's better to have more than one teacher.

So all in all I think that we all shoulk go to an ordinary shcool.
